School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) & School of
Engineering and Technology (SET) Gender, Transportation Infrastructure
and Development (GTID)
The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) School of Environment ,
Resources and Development & School of Engineering and Technology is
seeking Cambodian candidates to undertake (i) a one-year Diploma
Course, and (ii) a two-year Masters Course in Gender, Transportation
Infrastructure and Development (GTID) commencing in August 2008 at AIT
Thailand . All costs and expenses will be met by AIT and ASEAN
Foundation.
PREFERRED BACKGROUND OF APPLICANTS
GTID invites strong applicants with a four-year undergraduate degree
(Bachelor¢s or equivalent) in both engineering background (civil
engineering) as well as social science background (sociology,
economics, anthropology, political science, architecture). Good
English language and former work experience in public sector (both
government and NGO) is required. Work experience in development
planning will be considered an advantage. Women candidates are
particularly encouraged to apply.
ABOUT GTID
GTID is a multi-disciplinary program that focuses on:
(1) Gender and development
(2) Regional and gender planning
(3) Infrastructure planning and management, with special
focus on transportation planning and management
It covers both the physical planning based on transportation
engineering, and social, community and gender analysis and planning
based on social science. It envisages to develop planning and
management theories and practices contextualized to Southeast Asia ,
especially GMS region.
Curriculum and Courses:
The curriculum of these courses includes Gender and Development
Studies (GDS), Transportation Engineering (TRE), Regional and Rural
Development Planning (RRDP), Urban Environmental Management (UEM), and
Construction Engineering and Infrastructure Management (CEIM).
