Announcement for Visiting Scholar Fellowship Year 2008 - 2009

The Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development
(RCSD), Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University offers
Visiting Scholar Fellowships to regional scholars, researchers, NGO
workers who would like to spend time at RCSD for the duration of three
to six months to write their work relating to the filed of sustainable
development in respective areas in cultural diversity, transborder
issues, health, and resource management interplayed with gender and
ethnic relations in the Mekong Region.

During the fellowship period, the scholars will be provided the
opportunity to research and write about issues relating the mentioned
issues based on their research project and to participate in a dynamic
multidisciplinary academic environment at RCSD. They will be
occasionally asked to give a presentation based on their research work
for graduate seminar, participate in RCSD workshops and seminars and
etc.

RCSD faculty members will take the responsibility to work in
partnership with the scholars in developing and writing of a working
paper. RCSD will provide continual assistance and practical support
regarding the editorial processes. Their written work during the
fellowship period will be published as RCSD working paper series.

Fellowship will cover support which includes a monthly stipend,
residential allowance, health insurance, books and supplies. RCSD will
provide facilities such as office space and necessary office
equipment, access to internet, library, on-line journals and etc.
However, the residential allowance would not be covered for scholars
whose residents are based in Chiang Mai.


Qualifications:
Those who apply should be ensured for their high quality with
experience in research related to Mekong Region. They should have a
Master's degree, doctoral degree or equivalent professional training
and experience, possess proficiency in English and have conducted
research in the Mekong region in the field mentioned above. The
eligible people to apply for this scholarship must hold the
citizenship of Thailand and neighboring countries in the Mekong
Region; namely Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and China.
